 Afghan children, mostly girls, are able to attend school in a structure built by Powell and others who were in the country as members of the U.S. defense department's Civilian Expeditionary Workforce. Prior to the U.S. and NATO military presence there, Afghan girls were barred from attending school. This school is located in a village near the Bagram Air Field.
