MOORHEAD—After 15 years of bringing fine dining to the community, Sarello's will close June 30, the restaurant announced Tuesday.

Sarah Nasello, who co-owns the restaurant with her husband, Tony, said it was a decision made while thinking about family, especially their son, Giovanni.

"We have a 10-year-old son who is growing very quickly, and when you operate an evening restaurant, you don't get to really have a lot of family dinners together," she said.

But they aren't leaving the culinary scene behind. Nasello said they'll stay put at the space they own at 28 Center Mall Ave., where Sarello's has operated since opening in 2000.

Starting in late July, they'll reopen as Sarello's Culinary Events & Meeting Center, which will host cooking classes, private events and meetings.

"It's just a time for us to find some new challenges," she said.

The change also will give the Nasellos time for something else—a chance to finally visit the restaurants that have started here after the opening of Sarello's, the community's first fine dining place of its kind.

"It has been a thrill to see the dynamic explosion of the culinary scene in Fargo-Moorhead," she said. "Just to be a part of it and be any part of helping to set that fire is really flattering and it means the world to us."
