FARGO—A local gym will host an event this weekend to benefit an adapted CrossFit-style competition for adults with special needs.

Icehouse-A-Palooza is set for 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at Fargo's CrossFit Icehouse, 1620 1st Ave. N. The gym is hosting the event in conjunction with TNT Kid's Fitness and Gymnastics.

During Saturday's event, teams of three will pair up with one adaptive athlete to compete from 3 to 5 p.m. in two events and a possible third event tiebreaker.

The competition will serve as the kickoff to the eight-week training period for FargoMania athletes with special needs who will prepare for a main event in October. It's also a fundraiser seeking to raise enough money to help train these athletes throughout the year.

Saturday's event will also feature live music from The Front Fenders, food from Labby's Grill & Bar and beverages from Drekker Brewing Co.
