M State to debut Workforce Development Center
Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Moorhead will host an open house from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 12 in room F119 at its new Workforce Development Denter.
Area business and industry leaders and community members who attend will learn about M State's expanded employee training opportunities. Tours of the new on-campus training room and the four mobile classrooms will also be available.
The mobile classrooms deliver on-site training for area businesses and industries in safety, welding, manufacturing and commercial driver's license.
The workforce development center is part of M State's Workforce Development Solutions Division, which delivers more than 100,000 hours in workforce development training to over 6,000 men and women annually.
FARMCheck Services acquires Fargo firm
FARMCheck Services, a provider of accounting, tax preparation and payroll services based in Minnesota, has acquired Professional Bookkeeping Services of Fargo. Owners Peggy and Bruce Stordahl and current employees will merge with existing staff at FARMCheck Services to create one team.

TNT Kid's Fitness launches boxing program
TNT Kid's Fitness and Gymnastics has launched a new, non-contact boxing program for individuals with Parkinson's Disease.
TNT is an affiliate of Indianapolis-based Rock Steady Boxing. During Rock Steady Boxing classes, participants rotate through adapted boxing drills, which include a variety of movements including focus mitts, heavy bags, speed bags, jump rope and core strength.

Allocca to speak at Free Trade Agreement seminar
Mike Allocca will be the keynote speaker at a Free Trade Agreement seminar planned for 8:30 a.m.to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Delta by Marriott. Allocca is one of the top national experts on export compliance, documentation and Free Trade Agreements.
The seminar will be open to traffic managers, purchasing managers, compliance offers, sales managers and others concerned with international shipping. Attendees will learn how to determine product qualification for trade agreements, how to properly document for trade agreements and formulas for determining value content. This training is eligible for six NASBITE-CGBP re-certification CEU's.
Seating for the event is limited. The early bird registration cost of $250 ends Friday, Oct. 6.
BBB offers student of integrity scholarships
Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota is offering Student of Integrity
Scholarships for Minnesota and North Dakota high school students entering their senior year.
This year, $14,500 in scholarship funds will be awarded to students who demonstrate, through essay, a clear understanding of the importance of ethics in their personal choices and actions.
There are six scholarships available this year - one for $5,000, three for $2,500 and
two for $1,000. Students interested in applying are asked to select one or two of the 20
principles found in the document, UncommonSense.
Applicants will then write an essay that provides specific examples of ways they were challenged by a difficult situation and how they overcame that situation through the application of high character and personal ethics.
