New Midco data center breaking ground next week in Fargo
FARGO—Midco will break ground next week on a $12 million new data center for business customers here.
The company announced this spring that the new 16,000-square-foot Tier III data center, 4624 28th Ave. S., will host, store and monitor data services for business customers in the region.
It'll be the third data center for Midco, which already has facilities in Sioux Falls and Yankton in South Dakota.
Parallel Technologies, a data center and information technology infrastructure company headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minn., announced earlier this week that it has been selected by Midco to design and build the new facility.
"With Data Centers in such high demand in the Dakotas, the future-looking design of the new data center demonstrates Midco's commitment to advanced technology and its customers," Tim Kittila, director of data center strategy for Parallel Technologies, said in a written statement.
The new data center is expected to be operational early next year with room for 250 cabinets. There's another 28,000 square feet available for expansion in the future.
The facility will also be built near substation and power infrastructure to have the ability to maintain power for at least 24 hours in the event of an outage in the region.
Midco will host a groundbreaking and open house at the site of the forthcoming facility Tuesday, Aug. 15.
