MOORHEAD—Home improvement loans that only are repaid when the owner sells or moves out of their house are now available for eligible Moorhead residents.

The city announced late last week that federally funded Community Development Block Grant loans are now available for income-eligible residents on a first-come, first-served basis. A news release said there's a "very short" waiting list, so eligible applications filed now within Moorhead city limits will likely be approved for projects in 2018 or 2019.

CDBG loans, which have no interest or monthly payments, are available for energy efficiency upgrades, improvements to safety and general housing improvements, such as roofing, siding, windows and furnaces.
