New thrift store opens in Fargo

St. Vincent de Paul Thrift store is now open for business at 2796 5th Ave. S., Fargo. Forum News Service

FARGO—A new thrift store is now open in south Fargo. St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store opened Aug. 7 at 2796 5th Ave. S. It's affiliated with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic organization connected to several local congregations.

Manager Dianna Russell said customers can expect a typical mix of clothing and home goods at the store that also accepts donations.

But she said St. Vincent also will accept referrals from the Salvation Army and other organizations for less fortunate locals to get vouchers for two free outfits per family member.

"Some people are down on their luck and just need that little extra help, and that's what we're hoping to do," she said.

Russell said the rest of the store should be open in the next month or so to offer furniture and other products.

It's open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call (701) 364-9404.

Another business at 1425 1st Ave. S. formerly did business as St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store. It's no longer affiliated with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and is now called St. Francis Thrift Store.
