DETROIT LAKES, Minn.—Owners of a Spitfire Bar and Grill in Detroit Lakes hope to open the business around Oct. 1.

Renovations are currently underway at the former Speakeasy at 1100 N. Shore Drive. The restaurant has been gutted and the groundwork is being set for an outdoor patio and expansive bar.

When complete, the restaurant will be 10,500 square feet with capacity for about 350 guests.

Co-owner Craig Wendt was mum about other details, but did point out to the Detroit Lakes Tribune earlier this month that "the only thing that stayed was four walls" to emphasize the scope of the renovation.

The bar is owned by Wendt and his brother, Bryan Wendt, as well as business partners Tim Olson and Tyler Brandt.

The first Spitfire Bar and Grill opened in West Fargo in 2007.
