FARGO—Chef's Table Catering, a catering company based in downtown Fargo, is expanding its footprint to south Fargo with a new private event space in the building formerly home to Barbacoa at 3241 42nd St. S..

A remodel is currently underway to open up the space to comfortably accommodate up to 100 guests in a variety of seating capacities and room setups, according to a press release issued Tuesday, Aug. 21, by Great Plains Hospitality. Chef's Table Catering is a subsidiary of Great Plains Hospitality, which also owns and operates The Boiler Room locations in Fargo and Wahpeton, Twist in downtown Fargo, and The Otter Tail Supper Club and Lodge in Ottertail, Minn.

In an emailed statement, Dan Hurder, a partner in both businesses, said the space will be different from other private event venues.

"The new space will be different than other event spaces around the community because it will look and feel like a restaurant, without the expense often associated with a restaurant buyout," Hurder said.

"We have seen a lot of demand for private space in the restaurant business and often times can't accommodate due to price or space restraints. This opportunity allows us to cater to the demand for private space in the community while offering a unique atmosphere and a level of customer service that our brands are synonymous with."
