New women’s clothing store will replace Aeropostale at West Acres
FARGO -- Dry Goods, a women’s fashion apparel and accessories retailer, will be the newest addition to the West Acres Shopping Center.
In an announcement posted to social media sites Tuesday, Nov. 7, West Acres revealed the store will open in the former Aeropostale location next spring.
The company began as a dry goods store located in a 20-by-50 foot rented storefront in Davenport, Iowa, in 1872, according to its website. Today, Dry Goods specializes in women’s clothing, jewelry and accessories. In a nod to its roots, the company says it strives to bring “a tradition of old-fashioned customer service to a new generation of customers.”
This will be the first Dry Goods store in North Dakota. The retailer has a total of 27 stores in eight states, including stores in Edina, Minnetonka, Roseville and St. Cloud in Minnesota.
Dry Goods was mentioned as one of several stores in negotiations with West Acres in a Forum story published March 7. Others included fashion retailer H&M, women’s clothing store Torrid, stuffed animal outfit Build-A-Bear, athletic apparel retailer lululemon, specialty clothing retailer Zumiez, lingerie store Aerie, natural and organic grocery store Fresh Thyme Farmers Market and restaurant Chick-fil-A.
Zumiez opened at West Acres in September, lululemon has announced plans to open there later this year and Fargo’s first Chick-fil-A restaurant is currently under construction at the former TGI Friday’s site.
Torrid announced earlier this fall it would open in the TJ Maxx Plaza, 4340 13th Ave. S., in November, and H&M recently confirmed its intention to open in Fargo Outlets at Timber Creek, a proposed outlet mall at the northeast corner of Interstate 29 and 52nd Avenue South in Fargo.
