FARGO—Matt Lachowitzer owns a number of businesses, perhaps the best known are his Matt's Automotive Service Centers, one in Moorhead and one in Fargo.

"I'm kind of a serial entrepreneur," said Lachowitzer, whose latest commercial endeavor is a vehicle collision center he expects to open the first week in March at 6108 53rd Ave. S., in Fargo, formerly Corey's Custom & Collision, which Lachowitzer recently purchased.

The area's third Matt's Automotive Service Center will offer mechanical repair in addition to collision work, the latter being Lachowitzer's first foray into body repair work.

For the latter, Lachowitzer said he will depend on the expertise of the staff of Corey's, which he is keeping on as employees.

He'll also be adding three new employees at the collision shop.

Lachowitzer said the employees at the new automotive center will receive something they were not getting under the previous ownership: a full benefits package, including health insurance, 401(k)s, and vacation time. "I know they're quite excited for all that," Lachowitzer said.

Lachowitzer opened his first automotive service center in Moorhead in 2009.

He opened a shop in Fargo in 2014 and later moved that operation to 1150 43½ St. S. in Fargo, the former home of the WOW Radio Bar.

The Moorhead Matt's Automotive Service Center is at 1234 1st Ave. N.

Other enterprises he owns include a promotional products business and rental properties as well as an auto sales business.

"I like the challenges and different aspects of each business and what makes them tick," Lachowitzer said.

He said adding collision repair to his mechanical repair and auto sales operations "kind of gives me every aspect of a person's touch point with a car."

"We want to be the people that really take care of everything for our customers, being able to do (collision) is a huge piece of that," he said.
