1-year-old struck, killed by vehicle at Spirit Lake
FORT TOTTEN, N.D. - A 1-year-old boy died after being struck by a vehicle on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation over the weekend.
Spirit Lake Tribal Chairman Russ McDonald said a preliminary investigation indicates the death was accidental.
The incident happened Saturday night, but McDonald said it's too early to get into specifics.
“The preliminary results from the Bureau of Indian Affairs law enforcement says that the death is accidental,” he said, but authorities will hold back on comments until they hear from the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the FBI.
The reservation also had an accidental child death in April, when an 8-month-old child died of natural causes in Tokio.
