Adventure Fest to honor ‘Tarzan’ creator in Fargo

FARGO – An international celebration of the creator of “Tarzan” and “John Carter of Mars” is coming here this weekend for a family friendly event.

The annual Adventure Fest by the International Edgar Rice Burroughs Association is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Best Western Doublewood Inn, located at 3333 13th Ave. S. in Fargo.

Admission is $5 for those 13 and older, $3 for kids 5 to 12 and free for children under 5.

Adventure Fest activities include a Tarzan yell competition, costume contest on Saturday, games, panels and films, and a special showing of one of the last silent Tarzan films, 1927’s “Tarzan and the Golden Lion,” scheduled for 10 p.m. Friday at the Fargo Theatre. Tickets for the movie are $3 for those 6 and older.

The event is presented by Fargo-Moorhead Comic-Con/ValleyCon and Red River Science Fiction & Fantasy.
