Alta Hermodson, 91, Crookston, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.

Alta Valance Marce Dewar was born Jan. 22, 1911, in Crookston. She grew up near Crookston, where she graduated from high school in 1929. She attended Hughes Business College and St. Joseph's Conservatory of Music, both Crookston. She also attended Macalester College, St. Paul. On June 3, 1932, she married Arvid Hermodson in Grand Forks, N.D. They lived and farmed near Crookston. She worked for the Minnesota Rural Credit Department of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. and later for KROX Radio, Crookston. She taught piano lessons and was a correspondent for the Crookston Daily Times. She also drove bus for the Crookston School District. He died in 1989.

She is survived by a son, the Rev. Arlen (Marilyn), Moorhead; a daughter, ArvaDelle (Gene) Nagel, San Ramon, Calif.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation: One hour before the funeral in the church.

Funeral: Friday at 11 in Scandia Lutheran Church near Beltrami, Minn.

Burial: Scandia Cemetery near Beltrami.
