BARNESVILLE, MINN. – Winners in the inaugural Spark Your Startup Business Pitch Contest here have been announced and each received a cash prize. The winners included:
- First place, $1,000, Josh Christy with Booth;
- Second, $500, Renee Lura and Mike Mitchell with Infuse Solutions; and
- Third, $250, Robert Kringler with Userve, which also won the People’s Choice award and an additional $250.
Other business startups that rounded out the top five finalists were Snapdocs and DinnerTies.
Barnesville Business Pitch sponsors are Stoneridge Software, Dean’s Bulk Service, Crown Appraisals and the Barnesville Economic Development Authority.
ND Grocers to meet Sept. 7-9 in Fargo
FARGO – The North Dakota Grocers Association annual convention and trade show will be Sept. 7-9 at the Ramada Plaza and Suites.
The event includes exhibitors, entertainment, seminars, a cake decorating contest and awards banquet. Keynote speaker on Sept. 8 will be V.J. Smith of Brookings, S.D., who will present his message, “The Richest Man in Town.” There will also be a discussion on the status and future of the North Dakota Milk Marketing Board.

Teiken to speak at FMHRA luncheon
FARGO – The Fargo-Moorhead Human Resource Association monthly education luncheon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Ramada Plaza and Suites.
The topic will be “Lessons Learned in Building Trust and a Values-based Company Culture,” presented by Brent Teiken, CEO of Sundog, Fargo.
The luncheon is free for FMHRA members and students, $20 for nonmembers and guests and is open to the public.

Groundbreaker Field Day set Thursday

CoCo Fargo opening delayed again FARGO – CoCo Fargo, a new co-working and collaborative space at 122½ Broadway, has pushed back its opening date.
The space, originally slated to open in August, was set to open today. That has been moved because of construction delays, said Rachel Sternhagen, community manager for CoCo Fargo.
A new date has not been finalized, Sternhagen said.
