Clay deputies seek public's help finding dirt bike driver who escaped after chase
MOORHEAD – A motorcyclist chased by Clay County sheriff’s deputies Thursday night managed to get away, authorities say.
Deputies tried to stop a red motocross-style dirt bike in Oakport Township about 8 p.m. for driving erratically, according to a news release from Lt. Stephen Landsem.
In photos provided by the Sheriff’s Office, the driver of the dirt bike is seen riding very close to a deputy’s cruiser at one point. Landsem said the motorcyclist drove head-on toward deputies on several occasions during the chase.
The bike had a white number plate on the front handle bars. The driver was wearing a red multicolored helmet with goggles, a grey, red and black shirt and motocross boots, Landsem said.
Deputies stopped chasing the dirt bike when it drove onto a dike in Oakport, Landsem said.
Deputies are asking for help in identifying the driver of the dirt bike. They ask anyone with information to call the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at (218) 299-5151.
