Coddington "Cod" Grant Hewitt

Coddington "Cod" Grant Hewitt died Saturday, July 19, 2014 under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and surrounded by his family.

Cod was born on July 27, 1924 to Charles and Olive Hewitt, Cogswell, ND. He graduated from Forman High School. After graduation, he worked on the family farm before serving in the Army. He spent his time in the South Pacific and was sent to Japan with the Occupational Force. He was discharged in November of 1946.

Cod worked for Northwestern Bell for 32 years, retiring in 1982.

Cod was united in marriage to Marguerite Silseth on October 11, 1947 at St. Marys Church, Havana, ND. They made their home in Fargo, ND.

Cod was a member of the Eagles, the Knights of Columbus, the Telephone Pioneers and the VFW.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also was on a bowling league, enjoyed fishing and hunting, traveling and having a good political debate with his brothers.

He is survived by his wife Marguerite of 66 years; his daughter, Janice (Donald) Brandner and their children, Ryan and Katie, along with her fiance, Dylan Just; his son, James (Jean) and his two sons, Austin and Evan; and sister, Jane (Jack) Delvo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marjorie Dady; brothers, Charles, Theodore, Harrison, and Stanton.

There will be a visitation from 5-7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 followed by the prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo.

The funeral will be at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Nativity Catholic Church with a visitation one hour prior.

Burial at Holy Cross South Cemetery, Fargo.
