Local business leaders raise funds for MDA

The Muscular Dystrophy Association raised more than $26,500 during its annual “Lock-Up” fundraiser held June 26 at Applebee’s on 45th Street South in Fargo.

Fun arrest warrants for local business and civic leaders were issued and in order to be released, each person’s bail was set at $1,600.

The money for bail was raised by encouraging friends, family, co-workers and business contacts to make contributions to the MDA. The funds will be used to assist local individuals and families living with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related muscle disease.

Hospice fundraiser earns over $35,000

Choice Financial’s Go Hawaiian for Hospice lunch fundraiser, held July 1 in Fargo, generated more than $35,000 for Hospice of the Red River Valley.

The luau-style event featured a roast pig lunch, live music, special guests and a memorial wall. About 800 people attended.

Money raised provides care for patients and their families and supports HRRV’s grief support services, as well as other non-reimbursed needs. Go Hawaiian for Hospice is an annual event.
