Damaged pipeline spills nearly 300 barrels of oil
ALEXANDER, N.D. – Approximately 300 barrels of oil were spilled near here after a trenching operation accidently damaged part of the Belle Fourche Pipeline in McKenzie County on Saturday.
According the the North Dakota Department of Health, no bodies of water were affected by the spill because most of the oil was confined to the trench.
McKenzie County Emergency Management and the Department of Health have been on the scene of the spill to monitor cleanup. All of the oil has been recovered and safety berms have been constructed for containment in the event of rain fall.
