Dickinson man dies in semi crash

DICKINSON, N.D. – A Dickinson man has died after his vehicle became pinned under a semi during a crash near here Monday.

North Dakota Highway Patrol Sgt. Shawn Skogen said Zachary Honeyman, 28, was driving his Kia Sportage northbound on Highway 22 near mile marker 73 at around 5:15 Monday morning when it hit a 2005 Kenworth semi-truck making a left turn onto the highway from 29th Street.

Honeyman hit the back end of the trailer attached to the truck, said Skogen, and wound up pinned underneath the trailer.

The semi, driven by Louis Vollmer, 60, of Mellette, S.D., came to a stop in the southbound side of Highway 22, partially blocking both lanes of the highway.

Honeyman, who had not been wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, Skogen said.

Vollmer was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
