Escaped inmate from Bismarck prison captured in Breckenridge

BRECKENRIDGE, Minn. -- An inmate who escaped from the North Dakota State Penitentiary in Bismarck was captured Thursday in Breckenridge.

Police said they were alerted about 3:45 p.m. Thursday to a possible location of a fugitive who escaped Wednesday night.

They arrested Michael Engst of Milnor, N.D., without incident in the 400 block of Ninth Street South in Breckenridge.

Engst was sentenced in May on theft charges.

Police said Engst has ties to the area.
