FARGO – The Internet has a seemingly infinite number of practical, life-changing uses.

But all that improved communication and those important features are boring compared to the stuff we really care about – cute animal photos.

Here are five of the best online accounts to follow for some paws-itively adorable pictures and stories whenever you’re in need of a little cuteness.

1. @pugsofinstagram on Instagram: They burp, snore and are the loudest breathers around. Still, there’s no denying pugs have a charming personality that deserves attention. Anyone in the mood for pugs in sunglasses or taking naps in adorable situations should follow this account.

2. @EmrgencyKittens on Twitter: Ignore the misspelled name, and instead just look at the nonstop stream of cats for which this popular Twitter account with more than 477,000 followers is known. @EmergencyPuppy is an option, too, if you prefer the little barkers.

3. Boo on Facebook: I’ve never been much of a lapdog kind of guy. But I question my preference for bigger dogs whenever I see the latest photo from Boo, the one creature that deserves to be described as “the world’s cutest dog.”

The well-groomed Pomeranian and his slightly less cute brother, Buddy, have nearly 15 million likes on their Facebook page, www.facebook.com/Boo. The furry friends also have a large following on Instagram (@buddyboowaggytails) and Twitter (@buddyANDboo).

4. Shiba Inu Lovers on Facebook: Anyone who’s spent some time with a Shiba Inu will fall in love with the Japanese breed’s quirkiness, independence and cute “Shiba smiles” – they really are the most cat-like dog around.

But if you’re not lucky enough to live with one of these expensive dogs, like this account (www.facebook.com/ShibaInuLovers), live vicariously through the happy dog owners that post their best photos here.

5. @CuteEmergency on Twitter: This account doesn’t discriminate – dogs, cats, bunnies. With more than 1.2 million followers and counting, it’s one of the easiest ways to get a frequent dose of cute animal photos and see the best the Internet has to offer.
