#FMgram: Instagram helps Moorhead artist express herself
Fargo ND 101 5th Street North 58102

MOORHEAD – Nichole Rae’s artwork includes original typography and hand-crafted mixed media collage work.

Her Instagram feed, @artistnicholerae, is another way for her to be creative and to document her journey day by day. She posts artistic photos, often with inspirational messages.

“I’ve always seen my life in photographs and would always be taking pictures,” she said.

When she’s not creating, Rae said her heart “aches a little bit.”

The Moorhead woman has been collaging since she was 6 years old. In 2005, she started a personal collection of book art to document her life. When people started asking about buying her art, she decided to put her collage work onto canvas.

She makes greeting cards, prints and typography designs, which she sells at Unglued, ReDOUX, Eco Chic Boutique, Vintage Point, and Aendee in Fargo, as well as some shops in California and Arizona, and on Etsy, an online artist and crafters’ marketplace.

She has also written a beginner’s art journaling book called “Art Journal, Art Journey: Collage and Storytelling for Honoring Your Creative Process,” which comes out this month and is available at Amazon.com

“My artwork is very healing,” she said. “To create and get into creating heals anything in my life.”
