Georgetown man wanted on new charges
MOORHEAD – A Georgetown man accused of threatening another man with a flagpole and abandoning his 11-year-old daughter during a shoplifting attempt is wanted for arrest, this time for allegedly beating his daughter.
An arrest warrant was issued Monday in Clay County District Court for Jeffrey Charles Larson, 45, of Georgetown, on charges of felony domestic assault and malicious punishment of a child, a gross misdemeanor.
Charging documents filed in the case say the mother of Larson’s daughter contacted Clay County Social Services July 7 to report that Larson slapped her daughter, leaving her face bruised and her glasses bent.
A Clay County Sheriff’s Department detective interviewed the girl, who told him she and her brother had been living with their father in Georgetown until recently.
The girl said Larson slapped her with an open hand and also pulled her hair shortly after he was released from jail on July 2.
Larson faces prior charges in Clay County related to an incident in which he’s accused of threatening a man with a flagpole, then breaking into a stranger’s home.
Larson is also charged in a felony child neglect case in Fargo in which he allegedly ditched his daughter in a Wal-Mart store to flee with a shopping cart filled with more than $1,000 worth of merchandise.
His next court appearance has not yet been set.
