Glenn Whaley, 83, West Fargo, ND died on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Bethany on University in Fargo.
Glenn was born October 24, 1930 in Fosston, MN to V.G. and Marie Whaley. After Glenn graduated from Fosston High School in 1948, he enlisted in the Army. He served in the Eighth Army Band in Japan and Korea.
Following graduation from Concordia College in 1955, Glenn taught in New Town, ND, Hawley, MN and West Fargo. He taught band in West Fargo for 36 years.
Glenn married Joan Zielsdorf in 1958. They have three sons: Roger (Melanie), Mound, MN, Steven (Linda), Fargo, and Thomas (Jane), West Fargo. They have four grandchildren, Erika, Mark, Catherine and Andrew and two step-grandchildren, Amanda and Alice Paulson.
Glenn was active in Faith Lutheran music activities. He was a choir member for 54 years and directed several brass groups. Glenn was a member of the West Fargo Lions and served as secretary for many years.
Glenn is survived by his wife, sons, and their families. He is also survived by his sister, Vivian Evenson; brother, Richard (Carolyn) Whaley; and sister-in-law, Karen Spall. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janet Helland; and brothers-in-law, Richard Helland and Ronald Evenson.
Memorial Service: Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 2 PM at Faith Lutheran Church,127 2nd Ave. E., West Fargo with visitation one hour prior.
Final Resting Place: Faith Lutheran Columbarium.
