Hastings man accused of threatening ex-girlfirend with knife over Facebook
MOORHEAD – An arrest warrant was issued Thursday for a Hastings, Minn., man accused of threatening his ex-girlfriend with a knife and forcing her to go with him to a gas station after she asked to be friends with his friends on Facebook.
Timothy James Saari, 37, was charged Thursday in Clay County District Court with one count of domestic terrorizing, a Class C felony.
Court documents say Saari’s ex-girlfriend called police Wednesday at about 10:50 p.m. from a Holiday gas station, where she told them Saari had forced her to go with him from her home.
The woman told police she awoke to find Saari standing over her holding both his and her cellphones, yelling at her for friend requesting his friends on Facebook.
He waved a knife at her and insisted she give him gas money or he would hurt her, she told police.
He threw the knife on the couch, then forced her into his car and drove to the gas station, where she escaped as he yelled at her that he knew where she lived and that her two sons were at home alone.
Court documents say Saari is being held at the Stearns County jail. His first court date is not yet set.
