Herb Ulmer, 67, of Wheatland, ND died on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at his daughters home in Casselton under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Herbert Arthur Ulmer was born on March 5, 1947 to Arthur and Laura LaVerne (Robins) Ulmer. He graduated from Oakes (ND) High School and NDSU. He then served in the US Army in Korea before returning to the Wheatland area. He farmed near Wheatland for the next 40 years and was farming with his son at the time of his death.
He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and spending time with his grandchildren. Through the years, he could often be found having morning coffee at several locations in Casselton.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Ulmer; brother-in-law, Richard Bertsch; and nephew, Jerrod Ulmer.
He is survived by his children, Shelley and husband, David Parkhouse, Casselton, ND and Michael Ulmer and wife Amy, Wheatland; grandchildren, Abigail Parkhouse, Hunter Parkhouse and Kenley Ulmer; two sisters, Sara Jo Bertsch, Aberdeen, SD and Dorothy Murray, Fargo, ND; brother, Dennis (Dorothy), Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 5 to 7 PM at West Funeral Home, Casselton.
Memorial Service: Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Martins Lutheran Church, Casselton.
Final Resting Place: Casselton Cemetery.
