Letter: Excellent care at Essentia hospital
Earlier this year, I was a patient at Essentia Health for eight days, with three days in the intensive care unit. I was very, very ill, and they saved my life.
From the time I was in the ambulance to the day I was discharged, I received excellent care. Everyone was very professional, caring and compassionate. Everyone who came into my room always introduced themselves and told me what they were going to do.
I had to have an emergency angiogram and even though I am a retired nurse, I was very nervous and scared. The staff at the cath lab were so caring and put me at ease right away. They were so professional and organized, and they even made me laugh. One of the nurses in the cath lab used to work at Sanford, where I used to work, and he was so nice and caring.
I have had asthma since I was a child and the respiratory therapy staff was always there when I needed them, and I needed them a lot. They are the best respiratory therapy staff I have ever seen. They were very smart and answered all my questions. A few times in the hospital, I could not breathe and they came to my room very quickly. I owe them a debt of gratitude.
I was in the intensive care unit on fifth floor and on the third floor telemetry unit during my stay. The nurses and the PCTs took very good care of me. The doctors, NPs and PAs were very smart and answered all my questions, and I had a lot of them.
I cannot say enough good things about the staff in the emergency room. They were phenomenal – caring, organized and professional. They really know what they are doing.
I am so thankful for all the people who work at Essentia. Thank you for saving my life. I will never ever forget you.
