Letter: Nelson lacking common sense

In response to Ross Nelson (Aug. 17):

To answer your question comparing “consensual incest” to gay marriage: Incest has been scientifically proven to create genetic disorders to offspring created by the two adults consenting to such a relationship.

(Regardless of contraception and abortion, there is nothing to force a person to do either of these things, as that would be violating basic human rights. Funny how that works, people can be kept from marrying each other, but an incestuous couple could not be forced to take pre-emptive measures to make sure a pregnancy does not occur.)

There is no such evidence to support that the marital unison, or any consensual relationship for that matter, of two gay individuals is harmful in such a way.

A little bit of common sense can go a long way, Mr. Nelson.
