Letter: Speed trap no way to welcome visitors

Dear Fargo: You got me. I’m guilty, and I paid my fine. But I want you to know that you are not fooling anyone. I wish I had the power to see how many out-of-town drivers were caught in your speed trap near the North Dakota State University parking lot during freshman orientation day. It was a very chaotic and confusing day. I didn’t see any speed limit signs, but I was guilty, and I paid the $14 fine.

However, I wanted to tell all the local businesses in Fargo that from now on I will be staying in Moorhead when visiting my daughter.

Let me do the math for you: That will be six visits a year for four years and spending about $300 a visit. I will be spending approximately $7,200 in Moorhead.

Be sure to spend that $14 wisely.
