Letter: Trees are not always the best for neighborhoods
I would like to comment on Susan Ellison’s letter (July 21). She believes that trees are the answer to a neighborhood’s unity. But they can also be a disaster.
We built our home more than 40 years ago and the first owner next to us planted trees, that grew huge and did a lot of damage to my yard and affected four other yards as well.
If you plant trees, please consider what the size of that tree will be when it is full-grown.
Forty years ago, there weren’t any neighborhood homes beyond 25th Avenue South. All you have to do is drive south of Interstate 94 and see the evidence of all the trees that have overcome their neighbors’ yards. Please consider your neighbors.
