Margie (Kraft) Van Dyke

Feb. 4, 1939 - July 11, 2014

Margie Van Dyke, former resident of LaMoure, ND, passed away July 11, in her favorite chair, watching her beloved St Louis Cardinals play baseball. She was a passionate fan of her family, her friends, her students, her team, bridge, and life in general. Her infectious laughter would bring people running just to find out why.

Mrs. Van Dyke graduated from LaMoure High School and Ellendale State Teacher's College and began a teaching career spanning 40 years, touching the lives of thousands of students with her humor and encouragement. She began teaching in a one-room classroom in Richmond District #1 in South Dakota. She taught for many years at Sacred Heart Elementary School in Aberdeen and after relocating to Ballwin, Missouri, taught for 25 years at Holy Infant School.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Harry Van Dyke; son Michael and daughter Janet; grandchildren Bobby, Connor, Andrew and Chelsea; great granddaughter, Cora; sisters: Dorothy (Richard) Sanderson, Conde, SD; Carol (Donavon) Hottman, Shawnee, KS; brothers: Larry (Pauline) Kraft, Fargo, ND and Gary (Linda) Kraft, West Fargo, ND, and many precious nieces and nephews.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents: Gabe and Kathryn Kraft and her sister, Beverly (Larry) Moran.

Margie donated her body to St Louis University Medical School with Schrader Funeral Home making the arrangements. A Memorial service was held at St Clare of Assisi, Ellisville, MO on July 17, 2014.
