Fargo Davies

Coach: Heather Yarber (fifth year)

Last year’s finish: East Region champions, 4th place at state tournament

Who’s gone: Kathleen Marsh, Lexa Brossart, Amber Kosir

Key returners: Jennifer Marsh, Jr.; Anna Davison, Fr.; Jenna Forknell, Soph.; Sierra Klose, Jr.

Coach’s comments: “I’m saddened by the departure of our three seniors from last year’s team, but I’m also very excited for the upcoming season. We have no seniors on our returning squad, so I think there will be many opportunities to grow as a team this year. We have a returning all-state and

all-EDC player returning in Jennifer Marsh, and I look for her to lead the way for us and set a good example. Anna, Jenna and Sierra are also solid players. There should also be opportunity for new talent to emerge on the team.”

Fargo South

Coach: Josh Dunell (sixth year)

Last year’s finish: Didn’t place at state tournament

Who’s gone: Katy Weaver, Abbie Baumann

Key returners: Kailie Fossen, Sr.; Emily Grothmann, Sr.; Meredith Grothmann, Soph.; Karenna Grothmann, eighth grade; Olivia Koskela, Fr.; Jordan Miesen, Jr.

Coach’s comments: “We have strong senior leadership with Kailie and Emily and a good group of strong golfers. It will be fun to see how the team does in varsity competitions this fall. We will be looking to improve on our scores from last year.”

Fargo North

Coach: Chad Christensen (second year)

Last year’s finish: 3rd place at state tournament

Who’s gone: Addie Long, Kenzie Johnson, Keely Spiess, Hannah Berg, Kally Kvidera

Key returners: Abby Slebar, Jr.; Sarah Wenaas, Sr.; Erica Corcoran, Jr.; Jamie Singelmann, Soph.

Coach’s comments: “We had great guidance and talent with our five seniors that were on last year’s team. I feel that this year’s team learned a lot from that group, which should once again give us some strong leadership to go along with a great group of younger players that will be ready to compete at the varsity level.”

Fargo Shanley

Coach: Don Johnson (27th year)

Last year’s finish: 9th place at state tournament

Who’s gone: Abby Armstrong, Jr.; Hannah Ohm, Sr.

Key returners: Grace Dietz, Sr.; Payton Thimjon, Sr.; Aly Corbid Sr.; Marcela Hanson, Jr.; Katey Wold, Soph.; Cassie Johnson, Fr.

Coach’s comments: “We are going to be an improved team from a year ago. A lot of the girls have played a lot of golf in the offseason and we should be in the middle of the pack in the Eastern Dakota Conference. We should know where we stand in the state right away when we open the season at the East-West Crossover tournament in Jamestown.”

West Fargo

Coach: Dan Wolf (13th year)

Last year’s finish: 6th place at state tournament

Who’s gone: Ashley Bixby (state runner up), Brittany Rheault, McCall Brown, Katie Wibbles

Key returners: Kennedy Kraft, Sr.; Sierra Peterson, Sr.; Katie Froemke, Jr.; Ashley Peterson, Fr.

Coach’s comments: “It is always hard to replace a player like Ashley Bixby or any player that has spent significant time in our program the way Brittany, McCall and Katie (Wibbles) did. We are fortunate that our core group of returners – Kennedy, Sierra, Katie (Froemke) and Ashley – all have varsity experience and played at the state tournament last year. We are hoping a few of those players make the jump to the upper level of EDC play, and the good news is they have the ability to do that.”
