SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS: Jared Freitag of Fargo has been awarded a scholarship from the Fergus Area College Foundation to attend the Fergus Falls campus of Minnesota State Community and Technical College in the fall.

Several area students have been awarded college-sponsored Merit Scholarships. Students and the sponsoring college are: Kayla Heier of Perham, Minn., North Dakota State University; Beau Blanchard of Detroit Lakes, Minn., University of Central Florida, Orlando; Brandon Duenow of Fargo, NDSU; Christian Ekren of Fargo, NDSU; Grace Kidder of Fargo, Oklahoma City University; Andrew Park of Fargo, University of Minnesota – Twin Cities; Anna Renner of Fargo, NDSU; and Lauren Singelmann of Fargo, NDSU.

Rebecca Trautman of Moorhead has been awarded a $2,000 Military Scholarship from the Grand Forks Air Force Base. She is the daughter of Steven Trautman and Corlette Trautman. The scholarship is open to qualified sons and daughter of members of the U.S. Armed Services including active duty, retirees, guard/reserves, as well as children of deceased military personnel.

NDSCS NEWS: The following area students from North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton, were winners in the 41st annual North Dakota SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference:

Fargo: Austin Olin, power equipment technology, third; Dan Meckle, welding sculpture, first.

Wahpeton: Matt anderson, automotive refinish technology, first; Saskia Hindersmann, culinary, second; Kris Rinnels, power equipment technology, first; Tom Monroe, power equipment technology, second; Kris Rinnels, power equipment technology, first; and Presly Ulen, welding, second.

West Fargo: Tanner Schiffner, automotive service technology, third.

Moorhead: Scott Dandurand, welding sculpture, third.

Park Rapids, Minn.: Fred Stinar, architectural drafting, third.

Rothsay, Minn.: Andrea Froslie, culinary arts, third

CONCORDIA NEWS: Concordia College has awarded the following students scholarships: Bjorn Hagen, son of Verlene and Robert Stotts, Moorhead, Concordia Scholarship and a Music Performance Scholarship; Taylor Rostad, son of Jerry and Tami Rostad, Fargo, Concordia Scholarship; Scott Schwandt, son of William Schwandt, Moorhead, Concordia Scholarship; and Chad Johnson, son of Dennis and Eileen Johnson, Glyndon, Minn., Concordia Scholarship.

INTERNS AND PAGES: Sundog has hired four area students as summer interns. Students, schools and positions are as follows: Alecia Hupperts, Minnesota State University Moorhead, project manager intern; Meredith Wathne, Minnesota State University Moorhead, creative writing and social media intern; Katie Schalow, University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, design intern; and Braden Stevenson, North Dakota State University, technology intern. The interns will spend the summer working pro-bono with West Fargo STEM to deliver a marketing plan, a brand identity plan and a website.
