Near-drowning reported at Northeast Park swimming pool in Moorhead
MOORHEAD - A young boy had a big scare Thursday afternoon at a swimming pool here.
Rescue crews responded just after 4 p.m. to a 9-1-1 call of a possible drowning at the Northeast Park pool, 1817 8th Ave. N.When police arrived, the young boy, under 5 years old, was breathing and had vomited.
He was stabilized and taken to a local hospital.
Police say about 15 people were swimming in the unsupervised pool when the incident happened.
"We spoke to several people that were here swimming at the time and right now we have nothing that leads us to believe that it was anything other than just an accident." said Moorhead Police Sgt. Scott Kostohryz.
The boy is expected to be OK.
The pool, which is typically open until 7p.m., was closed for the day.
