RosaLee (Efird) Shockman

RosaLee (Efird) Shockman passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014. She was born on January 13, 1921 in Humble, Texas, to Jesse and Sudie Mae (Rives) Efird. After the death of her mother in 1927, her father remarried in 1930 to Virgelia Watt. She graduated from Southwest Texas Teachers College, San Marco, TX and taught school there. She met her husband, Lloyd Shockman, when he was stationed with the Army Air Corps in Texas. She joined him in North Dakota where they were married January 21, 1946 in Dickey. They farmed near Berlin and RosaLee taught in the LaMoure and Edgeley high schools. They moved to Mesa, AZ in 1970. Lloyd died May 3, 1982. She continued living in AZ and her children and grandchildren looked forward to her annual visits. She moved in with her daughter and son-in-law Cathie and Guy Shepard several years ago and came to live with her son and daughter-in-law Steve and Rhonda Shockman earlier this year.

RosaLee is survived by her children: Douglas (Mary) Shockman, Berlin; Jean Pollack, Bellingham, WA; Steven (Rhonda) Shockman, LaMoure; Chris (John Angell) Shockman, Santa Clara, CA; and Cathie (Guy) Shepard, Farmington, NM. Her grandchildren, who meant the world to her as she did to them: Luke (Lesley) Shockman, Rochester, MN; Nick (Emy) Shockman, Lisbon, ND; Rina Shockman, Plymouth, MN; Nevar (Marina) Pollack, Long Island, NY; Danielle Pollack, Brooklyn, NY; Nina (Frank Galina) Shockman, Portland, OR; Melissa (Mike Lauer) Shockman, Beaverton, OR; Joe (Lauren Malone) Shockman, San Francisco, CA; Tony Gratsch, Boulder, CO; Terra (Blake Larson) Shockman, St. Paul, MN; Kiley (Adam Ballinger) Shockman, Golden Valley, MN; Casey Shockman, Golden Valley, MN; Robin Angell, Livermore, CA; Jake (Amanda) Andrasovsky, Durango, CO; Megan Andrasovsky, Farmington, NM; Travis (Ashley) Shepard, Albuquerque, NM. Great grandchildren Sam, Jillian, Abby, Josey, Kenley Shockman, Chloe Rose Pollack, Emmit Collin, Elsa and Ian Larson, Grace, Finn and Cora Ballinger, Parker Shepard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, her daughter, Linda, her parents, brothers Charles and Norbin and sisters Betty Jo and Jessie Mae.

A memorial mass will be held on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, LaMoure. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Berlin. An on-line guestbook may be signed at
