FARGO - Looking fresh and summery, Emily Caruso wore a gingham top and red lipstick on one of the first warm, sunny days of spring.

The 29-year-old substitute teacher says she mixes feminine pieces with menswear-inspired clothing to create an eclectic look.

At Island Park here Caruso shared that she rarely goes clothes shopping but loves to peruse antique stores for jewelry and other fun finds.

Describe your style. Eclectic. I like frilly, girly things but also menswear.

What are you wearing today? Shoes from DSW, Express jeans, gingham top from Target, necklace from Kohl’s and a Ralph Lauren leather handbag.

Who’s your style icon? Audrey Hepburn. I love “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” I also like Zooey Deschanel because she’s fun and quirky.

Where do you shop? Target, thrift stores, Anthropologie, Forever 21 for fun, trendy things and Express for jeans.

What’s your favorite thing in your closet? A great chunky, geometric-print sweater from Urban Outfitters.

What’s your favorite season for dressing? Fall. I love layers.

What’s your fashion philosophy? I wear what I feel good in. I use to be self-conscious but now I own it.

What’s always in your handbag? A perfume roller and red lipstick.

My current favorite fragrance is Black Nirvana by Elizabeth and James. My red lip of the moment is NARS “Heatwave.” It stays on and feels soft.

What’s the last thing you searched on Google? I was looking up directions for a thrift store. A lot of my jewelry comes from thrift stores.
