Twins claim outfielder Schafer from Braves
MINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota Twins claimed outfielder Jordan Schafer off waivers from the Atlanta Braves, the team announced Sunday.
In 63 games with the Braves this season, Schafer hit .163 (13-for-80) with four doubles, two RBIs, 10 walks and nine runs scored.
The 27-year-old was originally drafted by Atlanta in the third round in 2005. He has hit .222 with 40 doubles, eight triples, 11 home runs, 67 RBIs, 130 walks, 88 stolen bases and 145 runs scored in 395 career games in parts of five seasons with Atlanta and Houston.
Schafer will join the team in Minnesota and be in uniform for Tuesday night’s game against San Diego.
