About 2 p.m., Jeffrey Davidson, 50, was driving the cycle, and Valerie Bychuk, 61, was the passenger when the rear tire blew, causing Davidson to lose control, the Patrol reported.

The motorcycle was laid down on the right side and slid across the highway, the report said.

Davidson and Bychuk, both of Winnipeg, were thrown from the vehicle, the report said.

Bychuk was wearing a helmet, but Davidson was not, the report said.

Both were transported by West River Ambulance to West River Hospital in Hettinger for treatment. Bychuk was later flown by air ambulance to a Bismarck hospital for further treatment, the Patrol reported.

The 2002 Harley Davidson and a trailer were severely damaged, the report said.
