Update: Crash kills driver in south-central ND

STRASBURG, N.D. – A Strasburg man is dead after a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon here in south-central North Dakota, the state Highway Patrol reported.

Shortly before 5 p.m. Friday, 17-year-old Katherine Vetter, of Linton, N.D., failed to yield at a yield sign at Seventh Avenue Southeast and 89th Street Southeast four miles west of Strasburg and struck a truck, the patrol said.

The driver of the pickup, 57-year-old Albert Houn, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck’s passenger, 17-year-old Adam Houn, was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Linton, and Vetter was treated at the scene and released.

Neither person in the pickup was wearing a seat belt.

Charges are pending, according to the patrol.
