Wahpeton tops Grafton for ND Class A East Region Legion title
GRAFTON, N.D. – Unable to clinch a state title in the first game, Wahpeton bounced back and claimed an 8-5 win over Grafton Saturday to win the North Dakota Class A East Region Tournament.
Grafton forced a second championship game with a 3-1 win over Wahpeton earlier in the day.
Limited to three hits in the first title game, Wahpeton erupted for 12 hits in the second title game. Seth Meide had three of those hits while Ethan Meide, Brock Lingen and Aaron Mennis each had two hits.
Wahpeton, which erased a 5-4 deficit with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, will host the Class A state tournament that begins Wednesday.
LaMoure wins Class B Southeast region title
OAKES, N.D. – Jared Meiklejohn hit two home runs, including a walk-off solo shot, to lift LaMoure to a 4-3 win over Enderlin in Saturday’s championship game of the Class B Southeast Region Tournament.
LaMoure’s Anthony Olson also hit a home run while Enderlin got home runs from Grant Lindemann and Adam Stenson.
Both LaMoure and Enderlin advance to the Class B state tournament that begins Wednesday in Langdon.
Carrington wins Class B Central Region tourney
CARRINGTON, N.D. – Brett Lyman’s slow roller to shortstop scored Sam Richter for the winning run as Carrington defeated Nelson County 7-6 in eight innings to win the Class B Central Region tournament.
Nelson County advanced to the title game with a 5-2 win over Hatton earlier on Saturday.
Both Carrington and Nelson County advance to the Class B state tournament that begins Wednesday in Langdon.
