Weekend Watch: ‘Twelfth Night’ and ‘Spamalot’
‘Twelfth Night’ and ‘Spamalot’
Friday – Monday
While there’s still a month left of summer, the theater season is winding down, but not without one last splash as two productions open Friday. Undiscovered Country Productions presents its ninth annual summer take on Shakespeare in the Park with “Twelfth Night.” Laugh along with the Bard’s comic tale of mistaken identity, gender-bending and love. The romantic action starts at 6 p.m. Friday through Monday at Island Park’s Jerry Scherling Court Complex, 302 7th St. S., Fargo. The family-friendly play is free. West Fargo Summer Arts Intensive opens “Spamalot,” the musical adaptation of “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” The stage version pairs Python film numbers like “Knights of the Round Table” with Broadway originals (penned by Python Eric Idle) like “The Song that Goes Like This” and “Whatever Happened to My Part?” for a suitably silly experience. Shows start at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Aug. 7, 8 and 9 and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at West Fargo High School Theater, 801 9th St. E. Tickets range from $10 for students to $15 for adults.
