SENTINEL BUTTE, N.D. - A Beach man was killed Thursday morning while riding an all-terrain vehicle on U.S. Forest Service land.

Jared Burian, 32, was spraying weeds along a steep embankment about a half-mile south of Highway 10 near Sentinel Butte when he lost control of his vehicle. The ATV rolled down the embankment and fell on top of Burian, according to a North Dakota Highway Patrol release.

First responders found Burian pinned under the ATV and unresponsive. He was not wearing a helmet, the release said.

The Highway Patrol and the Golden Valley Sheriff’s Department are investigating.
