I'm not a huge fan of the selfie ... I don't even really like the name, "selfie." My nephew, my go-to selfie expert, advises "embarrassing amounts of practice" to perfecting the selfie. I'm not there yet.5 / 5

FARGO - Wendy Gabriel was hooked on Instagram as soon as she started using the popular photo and video-sharing network in January 2013.

"I fully intended to follow only a handful of family and friends so I could keep up with what they were doing, but the moment I posted my first photo, I was hooked," she said.

Gabriel, a Fargo-based green living freelance writer who also runs, said Instagram speaks to her as a visual person in a way other social media can't.

Many of the photos she shares through her account (@mygreenside) with her 175 followers show scenes of family life with husband and WDAY radio host Christopher Gabriel and their two daughters, Caleigh and Cadence. But Gabriel said Instagram also has become a way to promote causes and businesses she's passionate about - and share the beauty of Fargo.
