John V. Stitz was born Nov. 15, 1957, to Joyce (Gums) and August Stitz. He was raised in Fargo, ND. He attended the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, following his graduation from Fargo South in 1977, majoring in accounting. He was unable to finish his final months of college due to his mother's lengthy battle with cancer. John was known to his family and friends as the kindest, most unselfish individual anyone ever knew.
Throughout his lifetime, John encountered obstacles more difficult to endure than most people could even fathom. Yet despite all of them, he remained optimistic and rose above all of life's challenges.
On June 29, 1996, John married Deb Korth at Island Park Gazebo in Fargo. John was a loving father as well as a friend to his two stepsons, Jeremy and Nicholas. He was not only a dedicated spouse and father but also a proud grandfather to his grandchildren. At the time of his death, John was employed at US Bank Service Center, as well as Hornbacher's Express, both in Fargo.
John will be missed by his loved ones and friends, but his memory will linger forever in their hearts.
John was preceded in death by his grandparents; his mother, Joyce Olson; his sister, Joanna; a nephew, Michael; a brother-in-law, Ken; and several uncles.
He is survived by his wife, Deb; his stepsons, Jeremy (Anne) Korth, Moorhead, MN, Nicholas Korth, Fargo; two grandchildren, Matt and Kali, both of Moorhead; his father, August (Judy) Stitz, and stepfather, Russell Olson, Fargo; two brothers, LeRoy (Nancy) Owatonna, MN, and Robert, Fargo; two sisters, Janell (Joel) Mastroianna and Geraldine Lewis, both of Fargo; and nieces and nephews.
