Fashionably late: Katherine Elizabeth Marshall is the F-M’s first newborn in 2009

Fargo-Moorhead’s first baby of 2009 may be destined for coolness. She already has the fashionably late part down pat.

MeritCare Hospital welcomed Katherine Elizabeth Marshall

at 11:49 p.m. Thursday, New Year’s Day. She weighed 8 pounds and

measured 20.5 inches in length.

Katherine’s mother is Nicole Marshall, and her father is Jeb Lockwood. Her grandparents are Jay and Lori Marshall and Ann Lockwood, all of Valley City, N.D.

Katherine’s arrival is one of the later New Year’s baby arrivals in recent memory.

From 2002 to 2008, the first baby of the year in Fargo-Moorhead arrived between 12:46 and 8:53 a.m. on New Year’s Day, according to Forum archives.

Fargo’s Innovis Health didn’t deliver any babies Thursday, a spokeswoman said.
