Garnet Elizabeth Wurst, 75, Jessie, ND, was born August 13, 1933 in Moulton, IA, the daughter of Roger and Lula (Leatherman) Blosser. The family moved to Loves Park, IL in 1935 where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from Rockford School of Business.

At the age of 11, Garnet had a walking paper route, earning enough money to buy her first bicycle. She worked at a local drugstore soda fountain and later at American Bank and Trust in Rockford, IL.

Garnet married Thomas Wurst April 16, 1966 in Loves Park, IL. Together they operated a gun and antique shop, specializing in high-grade collector guns. They traveled the Gun Show circuit in the United States, making many friends along the way. In 1972, Garnet was called to help in the family auto parts and machine shop business in Loves Park, where she and Tom spent 19 years before retiring to the Wurst Farm at Jessie in 1988. Garnet died Wednesday, January 7, 2009 in Cooperstown Medical Center-Hospital, Cooperstown, ND after battling brain cancer for 8 months.

She enjoyed traveling, especially to the Florida Keys; this would have been her 35th year there. She loved to cook and was always trying something new. Second to Tom, came her beloved dogs, especially Rottweilers. She was easy to know and hard to forget.

Garnet is survived by her husband, Thomas Wurst, Jessie, ND; one brother, Bill Blosser, Rockford, IL; one sister, Gloria Blosser, Boise, ID; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Lula; one brother, Robert Blosser; and her son, Kurt Wurst.
