The funeral for Alice M. Hardtke, of LaMoure, North Dakota will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 4:00 PM at the Dahlstrom Funeral Home in LaMoure, with Reverend Roy Noel officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 1 to 4 at the Dahlstrom Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date at the Grand Rapids Cemetery, at Grand Rapids, North Dakota.

Alice Marie Pfaff, daughter of August and Eleanor (Miller) Pfaff was born on May 26, 1920 near Litchville, North Dakota. She grew up and attended school in the Kathryn, North Dakota area. Alice was united in marriage to Walter Hardtke on December 27, 1941 near Litchville. The couple farmed in the Marion, North Dakota area up until the time of their retirement. Walter died on August 16, 2003. Alice lived in LaMoure, North Dakota until September of 2008, when she entered the Pioneer House Assisted Living in Fargo, North Dakota.

She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, and living the farm life. Alice loved nothing more than her children and grandchildren, as family was the most important thing in her life.

Alice died on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Palliative Care Unit at MeritCare South University in Fargo, North Dakota. She was 88 years old.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Sandness, Fargo, ND, and Susan (Gerald) Harris, LaMoure, ND; two brothers, August “Eugene” (Sheila) Pfaff, Fargo, ND, and Elmer Pfaff, New Rockford, ND; one sister, Margaret (Leo) Schall, Enderlin, ND; and seven grandchildren, Kristine Ubben, Bismarck, ND, Laurie Laducer, Steven Sandness, Michael Sandness, and Heidi Sandness, all of Fargo, ND, Jeffrey Ubben, Bismarck, ND, and Scott Ubben, Moorhead, MN. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sons, Wallace and Alan, four brothers, Robert, Lawrence, Wilber and James, and one sister, Lillian Andrud.
