Anna Eggert Gallagher, 103, died Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Elim Care Center, Fargo N.D. She was born April 12, 1905 on the farm in Warren Township, Cass County North Dakota. Parents were Anna and Earnest A. Eggert. They farmed and moved to Fargo in 1918. Anna graduated from Central High School in 1923. She went to State Teachers College in Valley City, N.D. in 1923 and 3 months of summer school. She also taught school for 3 years in Jud, N.D.
Anna and John were married April 20, 1927 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fargo, N.D. They moved to Eugene, Oregon during the depression and answered an ad in the paper for a Wearever sales man. They prepared full dinners at a host home. They would invite 2 or 3 couples to the dinner where Anna did the cooking. They moved to Vancouver to work in the shipyard in 1941. John was a welder and Anna worked for IBM. John died in 1976. Anna moved to the Kamlu retirement home in Vancouver, then to Pioneer House in Fargo, N.D. in 2005.
Anna was preceded in death by her 7 brothers Edward Eggert, Clarence Eggert, Walter Eggert, Henry Eggert, all of Fargo, Albert (Dewy) Eggert and Frank Eggert of Mapleton, N.D. and Fred Eggert of California.
Anna has one sister in law, Sylvia Eggert, Fargo, a nephew Roger Eggert, 2 cousins Eugene Eggert and Jean Madsen, and many nieces and nephews including, Irene Walkinshaw, Eleanor Hanson, Marian Nedrebo, Susan Altenburg, Jane Piper, Sharon Werezezzers, Delores Schroeder, Charlie Eggert, Lucille Stutlien, and Margie Walters, both of Vancouver Washington.
Anna was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, Vancouver, Washington.
The funeral for Anna will be on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Elim Care Center Chapel with visitation one hour before the service in the chapel.
