FERGUS FALLS, Minn. - Authorities have arrested and jailed the stepbrother of the young woman who was kidnapped and released over the weekend in Otter Tail County.

Fergus Falls Police Chief Tim Brennan says 26-year-old Derek Allen Gilpin of Elbow Lake was arrested Sunday evening during the investigation into the abduction of his 17-year-old stepsister.

The stepbrother reported the abduction of Amy Henning around 7 p.m. Saturday outside a movie theater at a Fergus Falls shopping mall.

He claimed Henning's stepfather, 46-year-old David Sabby of Elbow Lake, had taken the girl and left him bound and gagged in the parking lot.

However, police say, the stepbrother's story didn't hold up under questioning and it's now alleged that the stepfather and stepbrother were working together.

The girl was released about 1 a.m. Sunday. Sabby was arrested and is expected to be formally charged by Tuesday.
